Home > Coal Industry Support Project > Fund for Coal Price Stabilization

MIRECO is assisting five companies, including Korea Coal Corp., seven mines and 47 coal briquette factories in the form of a grant to make up for production cost increases arising from coal production reductions and the differences between coal and coal briquette production costs and selling prices in a bid to stabilize coal and coal briquette prices.

The grant for stabilizing coal prices is divided into a fund for stabilizing coal prices, a fund for stabilizing coal briquette prices and a fund for support of coal production reductions.

Our corporation has acknowledged publicly the highest coal prices since 1989. MRC has been assisting coal mining proprietors to make up for the gap between production costs and selling prices. The aid for stabilizing coal prices include the assistance for stabilizing production, insurance premiums for industrial disasters and scholarships for children of coal miners.

We subsidize production cost increases to coal briquette producers so that coal briquette consumers can purchase coal briquette at cheaper prices.

Our corporation assists coal mining proprietors to make up for losses stemming from coal production reductions.
